A local event production company has been searching for ways to support the local economy through this difficult season caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

As people are staying home to prevent the spread of the virus, the economy has been slowed, and in many cases people have been forced to be less physically active through the closing down of all fitness centers.

As a result, CoRUNa was created.

iTRI365 Timing and Event Production is encouraging the community to be active and reboot the local economy through their CoRUNa series “30 miles in a month” challenge.

Participants fill out a registration form and pay a participation fee that will be distributed to local businesses, according to a press release by iTRI365. The release states:

“Instead of medals and T-shirts, each race will have swag we have purchased from a local business. We’ll have a different swag theme each month based on businesses we’ve been able to connect with. The goal is that your money to these events pours right back into our community helping our small business owners.”

After registering, participants should log 30 miles of physical activity by the end of each month and submit their mileage to iTRI365’s electronic forum. After the mileage is logged, the company will mail merchandise from the featured business to the participants address, stated the press release.

People who join the event can log any physical activity in their mileage, including cycling, running, walking or kayaking. iTRI365’s Facebook page will feature a list of businesses they are partnered with, according to the release.

“We will be posting on our Facebook pages and here for a list of businesses we have been able to support, either through the purchase of their products or marketing,” the release stated. “There will be no discounts offered. The reason we aren’t doing a discount is because we need to put as much money back into these small businesses as possible.”

If an individual participates in multiple months of the event, they will receive extra benefits.

“We’re offering additional swag to those who do three, four or five of the ‘races’. Run three events, and you will get a custom CoRUNa espresso mug from a local promotional company. Run four and you will get the mug and a T-shirt. Run five and you get a mug, the T-shirt, and free entry into any iTRI365 owned events,” stated the release.
